Thu 5:45 PM to 7:30 PM
Topic: Managing a Business

Manufacturing 101 is just what it sounds like: an opportunity for you, an entrepreneur, to build a greater understanding of how to work with manufacturers. The evening will cover topics like design for manufacturing, understanding supply chain development, and manufacturing practices. Our speaker will demystify design and manufacturing jargon, discuss how to determine best strategies for early production and scaled production, and share resources to help find regional manufacturing capabilities. You'll leave with a better understanding of the next steps for your business. Andrew Dahlgren, our speaker for the evening, has been working with Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC; https://www.dvirc.org/) on the Manufacturing Access Project to develop new strategies to connect designers, makers, and entrepreneurs to regional manufacturers. Over the past two years they have learned about the growing number of entrepreneurs in the region and their desire to source regional manufacturing capabilities, while also observing a number of barriers that prevent these entrepreneurs and our region's manufacturers from working together. Manufacturing 101 is part of their work to address and remove those barriers. If you're interested in working with manufacturers and unsure where to start, or if you've experienced challenges along the way, this workshop is the right place for you. If the nominal fee for this evening presents you with difficulty, limited financial aid is available to those who qualify. To apply, complete the business training scholarship application below before registering. Course fees are non-refundable. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. Contact us at (215) 790-9232 to arrange.
